Berringa is a small rural township in the Golden Plains Shire of west-central Victoria, situated approximately 37 kilometres south of Ballarat and 153 kilometres west of Melbourne. With a population of 194, the community occupies around 37.7 square kilometres of agricultural land and bushland at an elevation of approximately 504 metres in the western Victorian tablelands. The township falls within the federal Division of Ballarat and the state electoral district of Ripon.
Berringa has a rich gold-mining heritage — the historic Birthday Mine is a notable local landmark, reflecting the township's origins in the nineteenth-century Victorian gold rush.
