Binalong is a historic village in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, located 37 kilometres north-west of Yass in Yass Valley Shire and approximately 312 kilometres south-west of Sydney. Sitting at an elevation of 481 metres on the undulating tablelands, the village had a population of around 550 at the 2021 census. The area has a long pastoral and agricultural history dating back to the mid-1800s, and many heritage buildings from that era still line its quiet main street. Binalong is part of the federal Division of Riverina and the state electoral district of Goulburn.

Binalong offers a quintessential small country town lifestyle, with a hotel, a general store, a primary school, and a strong community spirit. The town is well known among cyclists and motorists as a stopover on routes through the Southern Tablelands, and the surrounding farmland produces wool, grain, and cattle. Yass (37 km away) provides secondary schooling, supermarkets, and medical services, while Canberra is around 80 km to the south-east.
