Boyup Brook is a small agricultural town in the south-west of Western Australia, within the Shire of Boyup Brook approximately 269 kilometres south-east of Perth and 31 kilometres north-east of Bridgetown. The town covers a large area of 211.96 square kilometres at an elevation of 194 metres, and recorded a total locality population of 938 at the 2021 Census, with around 540 in the urban town centre. The name Boyup derives from a Noongar Aboriginal term meaning 'place of big stones', reflecting the granite outcrops that characterise the surrounding landscape on Kaniyang land within the Noongar nation.
Boyup Brook is best known for hosting the Boyup Brook Country Music Festival, one of Western Australia's largest and most celebrated country music events, which draws visitors from across the state each year. The town is surrounded by rolling farmland, jarrah forests, and the upper catchment of the Blackwood River, making it popular with nature lovers and those seeking a slower rural pace. Local services include a supermarket, medical clinic, and primary school, while Bridgetown (31 km) and Bunbury (126 km) provide broader retail, healthcare, and secondary education.
