About Bushmead
Bushmead is a newer residential suburb of Perth, established in 2017 on the site of the former Bushmead Rifle Range, within the City of Swan local government area. Located approximately 16 kilometres east of the Perth CBD, the suburb covers 3.2 square kilometres and recorded a population of 677 at the 2021 Census. Bushmead features modern housing estates with a significant portion of land set aside as parks and conservation bushland reserve, giving the suburb a green, open character.
A key feature of Bushmead is the extensive conservation bushland retained from the former rifle range, providing residents with access to natural green space and bushwalking within the suburb itself. The surrounding area includes Helena Valley, Hazelmere, and Maida Vale, with Midland Gate Shopping Centre a short drive to the west offering major retail and services. Midland station, on the Midland train line to Perth, is accessible nearby, and the Swan Valley wine region is within easy reach to the north, making Bushmead a practical base for families and young households seeking modern homes in Perth's eastern corridor.
Bushmead falls under postcode 6055 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the West Swan (East Metropolitan) electorate.
