About Red Hill
Red Hill is a sparsely populated locality in the City of Swan, situated approximately 26 kilometres north-east of Perth on the western face of the Darling Scarp. With a small population of around 85 residents and an area of nearly 16 square kilometres, Red Hill is a semi-rural locality where the Toodyay Road passes through on its route up the escarpment into the Wheatbelt. The suburb is best known for the Red Hill Waste Management Facility, a significant regional landfill managed by the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council.
Red Hill appeals to residents who value a rural lifestyle with reasonable proximity to the Perth metropolitan area. The Darling Scarp setting offers attractive bushland scenery and the suburb borders the Shire of Mundaring, placing it within easy reach of the Hills lifestyle precinct centred on Mundaring and Midland. Services and retail are accessed primarily via nearby Middle Swan, Midland, or Gidgegannup.
Red Hill falls under postcode 6056 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Swan Hills (East Metropolitan) electorate.
