Cootralantra is a small rural hamlet in the Snowy Monaro Regional Council area of New South Wales, nestled in the elevated country of the Snowy Mountains foothills approximately 5 kilometres east of Berridale and 27 kilometres north of Cooma. Sitting at around 1,021 metres above sea level, the locality covers 162 square kilometres of high-country grazing land and is part of the broader Monaro Tablelands. With a population of 107 residents, Cootralantra is a tight-knit agricultural community within the federal electorate of Eden-Monaro.

The surrounding landscape is characterised by the open rolling grasslands, cold-climate pastures, and alpine vistas typical of the Monaro high country, with Cootralantra Hill rising to 1,038 metres.
