About Corang
Corang is a remote rural locality on the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, situated approximately 123 kilometres east of Canberra and 46 kilometres northeast of Braidwood within the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council area. The locality takes its name from the Corang River, which flows through the area and is part of the upper catchment of the Shoalhaven River system. Covering over 130 square kilometres of undulating bush and farmland, Corang is sparsely populated with a handful of rural properties set among eucalypt forests. The landscape is characterised by rocky ridgelines, native bushland, and seasonal creek systems typical of the Southern Tablelands.
Corang and its surrounds attract bushwalkers, naturalists, and those seeking remote rural living in a scenic part of New South Wales. The Corang River valley is popular for camping and freshwater recreation, with some properties offering farm stays or eco-tourism experiences. Residents and visitors can access the Morton National Park nearby, one of NSW's largest national parks, which encompasses rugged gorges and spectacular escarpment scenery. The locality is close to the historic town of Braidwood, which provides shops, cafes, and community services to the surrounding rural district.
Corang falls under postcode 2622 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the South Coast electorate.
