Dagun is a small rural town and locality in the Gympie Region of Queensland, located approximately 17 kilometres south of Gympie in the scenic Mary Valley. Established in 1890, it covers 7.1 square kilometres and had a population of 137 residents at the 2021 Census, making it one of the smaller settlements in the valley. The locality falls within the federal electorate of Wide Bay and the state electorate of Gympie, situated about 154 kilometres north-north-west of Brisbane.
Dagun is part of a chain of small communities nestled in the Mary Valley, known for its green rolling hills, dairy farms, and a relaxed rural character. The locality has a long history of community life, anchored by Dagun State School, which has served the area for generations.
