About Elrundie
Elrundie is a small residential locality within the City of Palmerston, part of the Greater Darwin urban area in the Northern Territory. Located approximately 20 kilometres south-east of Darwin's CBD, Palmerston — including Elrundie — was developed as a planned satellite city from the 1980s to house Darwin's growing population. The area is characterised by a hot, tropical climate with a distinct wet and dry season, and features predominantly modern low-set housing built for the Territory's conditions.
Residents of Elrundie enjoy the community-oriented lifestyle of Palmerston, which offers shopping centres, schools, sporting facilities, and parks catering to the strong military and public service population typical of Darwin's satellite suburbs. The area is popular with young families and Defence Force personnel based at RAAF Base Darwin and Robertson Barracks at Holtze. Outdoor recreation opportunities abound, with easy access to the Adelaide River floodplains, fishing spots, and the broader tropical landscapes of the Top End.
Elrundie falls under postcode 822 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Spillett electorate.
