About Gillman
Gillman is a predominantly industrial suburb located in the north-western reaches of Adelaide, within the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. With a population of just 76 at the 2021 Census, it is one of Adelaide's least-populated suburbs, characterised by large industrial and logistics facilities rather than residential development. The suburb is situated between Port Adelaide and Dry Creek, and has historically been associated with the now-disused Dry Creek–Port Adelaide railway marshalling yards. Gillman lies within the federal Division of Hindmarsh and the state electoral district of Port Adelaide.
Gillman's landscape is dominated by commercial and industrial land uses, including warehousing, transport depots, and port-related activities that reflect the suburb's proximity to the Port of Adelaide. Very few residential properties remain, and the suburb lacks typical amenity infrastructure such as schools, parks, or retail. Nearby suburbs of Port Adelaide, Ottoway, and Rosewater provide the nearest shops and services for workers and the small number of residents. The suburb is best known to Adelaideans as an industrial address and part of the broader Port Adelaide industrial corridor.
Gillman falls under postcode 5013 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Port Adelaide electorate.
