About Glenquarry
Glenquarry is a small rural locality in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, situated within Wingecarribee Shire approximately 134 kilometres south-west of Sydney CBD and 7 kilometres south-east of Bowral. Set at an elevation of around 762 metres above sea level, the locality is characterised by rolling hills, lush green pastures, and the nearby Wingecarribee River, which adds to its scenic rural appeal. With a population of around 261 and an area of nearly 45 square kilometres, Glenquarry is a scattered and peaceful highland community.
The locality's proximity to Bowral and the wider Southern Highlands means residents enjoy relatively easy access to the region's excellent cafés, restaurants, boutique shops, and cultural events — including the famous Tulip Time festival held in Bowral each spring. The area is popular with tree-changers and weekenders drawn by the cool climate, equestrian properties, and tranquil countryside. Nearby Mittagong and Moss Vale also provide additional services, and regular train connections from Bowral on the Southern Highlands Line link residents to Sydney via Campbelltown.
