About Jancourt
Jancourt is a tiny rural locality in south-western Victoria, located approximately 15 kilometres north of Cobden and around 25 kilometres from the Otway coastline, in the Corangamite region. With just 16 residents recorded in the 2021 Census and an area of just over 9 square kilometres, Jancourt is one of Victoria's smallest localities by population. The landscape is defined by lush green dairy farmland, sheltered valleys, and the mild, moist climate characteristic of the South West.
Jancourt offers an extraordinarily quiet rural lifestyle, with residents living on working dairy and grazing properties in a deeply agricultural setting. The nearby town of Cobden provides basic services including shops, schools, and a medical centre, while the larger towns of Colac and Warrnambool are accessible within an hour's drive. The surrounding region is popular for its proximity to the Great Ocean Road, the Otway Ranges, and Twelve Apostles, offering world-class natural attractions.
Jancourt falls under postcode 3266 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Polwarth (Western Victoria) electorate.
