About Kaoota
Kaoota is a rural residential locality straddling the local government areas of Kingborough and Huon Valley in southern Tasmania, approximately 18 kilometres south-west of Kingston and around 40 kilometres from Hobart. Sitting at an elevation of around 408 metres in the hills above the Huon Valley, the locality covers approximately 19 square kilometres of forest and rural land. Its name is believed to derive from an Aboriginal word meaning "dusk", reflecting the area's character as an elevated, quieter retreat from the coastal Channel area below.

Residents enjoy proximity to the natural wonders of the Huon Valley and the southern Tasmanian wilderness, as well as easy access to Kingston for services, schools, and shopping. The locality offers a peaceful semi-rural lifestyle popular with those seeking space and nature while remaining within commuting distance of Hobart and Kingston.
