About Keysbrook
Keysbrook is a rural locality in Western Australia's Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, located approximately 70 kilometres south of Perth CBD along the South Western Highway. With a vast area of around 180 square kilometres, the locality had a 2021 Census population of 265 residents, reflecting its sparse rural settlement. Historically significant, Keysbrook was established as a railway siding in 1897 and gazetted as a townsite in 1916, believed to be named after pastoralist Charles Key who leased land in the area in the 19th century.
The locality is characterised by rural and semi-rural properties, orchards, and lifestyle acreages set amid the jarrah forests and farmland of the Darling Scarp foothills south of Perth. Residents travel to nearby Mundijong or Serpentine for basic services, or north to Byford and Armadale for a fuller range of shopping, schools, and healthcare. There is no public transport within Keysbrook itself, and the South Western Highway provides the main road access. A private vehicle is essential for daily life in this quiet outer rural locality.
Keysbrook falls under postcode 6126 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Murray-Wellington (South West) electorate.
