Lamington is a small rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region of South East Queensland, situated in the hinterland approximately 80 kilometres south of Brisbane and south-east of Beaudesert. The locality covers around 57 square kilometres of predominantly pastoral and agricultural land, with the 2021 Census recording a population of 89 residents. It falls within the Scenic Rim Regional Council area, a region renowned for its outstanding natural landscapes straddling the Great Dividing Range.
The locality shares its name with the nearby Lamington National Park, a significant World Heritage-listed area of ancient Gondwana rainforest that lies to the south-east and draws visitors from across South East Queensland. The surrounding region is historically associated with grazing, dairy farming, and more recently ecotourism. Beaudesert, the main service town of the Scenic Rim, is accessible by road and provides residents with schools, shops, medical services, and connections along the Mount Lindesay Highway towards Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
