Lawitta is a small rural locality in Tasmania's Derwent Valley local government area, situated approximately 4 kilometres north-west of the historic town of New Norfolk and about 32 kilometres from Hobart. Gazetted as a locality in 1970, Lawitta is a quiet farming community set along the banks of the Derwent River, which forms its south-western boundary. The 2016 census recorded a population of 232 residents in the state suburb.
