About Lilydale
Lilydale is a small rural locality in the Lockyer Valley Region of Queensland, situated in the state electorate of Lockyer approximately 80 kilometres west of Brisbane. Covering just under 10 square kilometres, the locality is traversed by Flagstone Creek on its western side, with surrounding land predominantly used for irrigated cropping and mixed agriculture. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 77 residents, reflecting the tightly settled but productive rural character of this Lockyer Valley community.
The Lockyer Valley is one of Queensland's most important horticultural regions, producing a wide variety of vegetables and crops for markets across the country, and the agricultural land around Lilydale is part of this productive tradition. Gatton, the main service centre of the Lockyer Valley, is within a short drive and provides residents with supermarkets, medical services, schools, and the University of Queensland's Gatton campus. The locality's quiet, creek-side farming character and easy access to the Warrego Highway make it a practical choice for those employed in agriculture who value a genuine rural setting.
Lilydale falls under postcode 4344 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Lockyer electorate.
