About Lloyd Creek
Lloyd Creek is an outer rural locality of Darwin in the Northern Territory, situated approximately 35 kilometres south of the Darwin CBD within the Litchfield Municipality. Covering around 50 square kilometres of tropical bushland, it is a sparsely settled area with a population of approximately 225 residents. The locality was named in 1865 by explorer Fred Litchfield after John Vereker Lloyd, who had accompanied him on his expedition, and was incorporated in 1869.
Lloyd Creek lies within the broader Litchfield area, bordered by localities including Humpty Doo, Noonamah, Acacia Hills, and Wak Wak — a region known for its tropical savanna landscape, rural residential blocks, and the nearby Litchfield National Park with its famous waterfalls and swimming holes. Residents enjoy a laid-back rural lifestyle while remaining within commuting distance of Darwin's urban amenities. The Top End's distinct wet and dry seasons define daily life, and the area is popular with those who value space, nature, and proximity to Darwin without the density of suburban living.
Lloyd Creek falls under postcode 822 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Spillett electorate.
