The town serves as the commercial hub for a wide surrounding agricultural district in the North Burnett hinterland.

Mundubbera is renowned as the Citrus Capital of Queensland, with extensive orange and mandarin orchards dominating the local economy and landscape. The town centre on Lyons Street offers essential services including a supermarket, medical centre, hotel, and local schools, while the surrounding farms attract seasonal workers each harvest.
