About Nandi
Nandi is a rural locality in the Western Downs Region of Queensland, situated approximately 15 kilometres south-west of the town of Dalby on the fertile Darling Downs. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 105 residents across a large 151 square kilometre area. The Condamine River forms much of the locality's north-eastern and eastern boundary, and the flat, productive black-soil plains support predominantly broadacre cropping.
The locality is home to Lake Broadwater Conservation Park in its south-west corner, protecting Broadwater Lagoon — a significant natural wetland attracting birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. The Moonie Highway passes through the north of Nandi, and the locality is served by Nandi railway station on the Western rail line. Dalby, the nearest major town, provides schools, shops, medical facilities, and services. The surrounding Western Downs region is one of Queensland's most productive agricultural areas, known for grain, cotton, and cattle farming.
Nandi falls under postcode 4405 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Warrego electorate.
