About Norwin
Norwin is a small rural locality on the Darling Downs in the Toowoomba Region of Queensland, situated approximately 55 kilometres west of Toowoomba and around 15 kilometres from the town of Cecil Plains. Covering around 116 square kilometres of fertile black-soil plains, Norwin is prime broadacre cropping country characteristic of the Darling Downs, one of Australia's most productive agricultural regions. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 100 residents, reflecting the sparse, working-farm settlement pattern of the surrounding district.
The locality is served by the Toowoomba–Cecil Plains Road and surrounded by expansive wheat, barley, sorghum, and cotton farms that define the Darling Downs landscape. The Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Bowenville Norwin Road and the former Norwin Provisional School are among the community's historical touchpoints, and the Queensland Country Women's Association hall on Brookstead Norwin Road reflects the enduring community ties of the district. Residents travel to Pittsworth or Cecil Plains for shopping and services, and to Toowoomba for major facilities.
Norwin falls under postcode 4356 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Condamine electorate.
