About Orange Creek
Orange Creek is a remote rural locality in the Barcaldine Region of Central West Queensland, spanning approximately 295 square kilometres of open Mitchell grass plains and mulga woodland. The locality had a population of around 197 people in the 2021 census, with the community centred on pastoral holdings producing beef cattle. Orange Creek lies roughly 15 kilometres east of Alpha, the nearest town, along the Capricorn Highway which connects to Rockhampton in the east and Longreach in the west.
