About Pasha
Pasha is a vast rural locality in the Isaac Region of Central Queensland, situated approximately 50 kilometres north-west of Moranbah in the heart of the Central Queensland coalfields and grazing country. Covering an extraordinary 2,349 square kilometres, Pasha is one of the largest localities by area in Queensland, characterised by expansive grazing stations, gidgee and brigalow country, and the waterways of the Suttor River system. With a 2021 Census population of 75 residents, the locality is extremely sparsely settled, with land use dominated by large-scale cattle grazing and pastoral enterprises.
Life in Pasha revolves around the rhythms of pastoral station work on the area's large cattle properties, which are rated highly in the Isaac Region for their beef backgrounding and finishing operations. The locality offers access to natural waterways including the Suttor River and its tributaries, which support both livestock watering and the local ecosystem. Residents rely entirely on Moranbah or Clermont for all services including shopping, schools, medical care, and fuel. A private vehicle — and often a four-wheel drive — is essential for navigating the distances and station tracks that characterise this remote Central Queensland locality.
Pasha falls under postcode 4721 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Gregory electorate.
