Richmond is a historic village in the Coal River Valley of Tasmania, located approximately 25 kilometres north-east of Hobart in the Clarence municipality. With a population of around 1,580 (2021 Census), it is one of Australia's best-preserved Georgian towns, dating back to the 1820s. The village sits at 21 metres elevation in a picturesque valley setting, surrounded by vineyards and farmland. Richmond was originally an important convict station linking Hobart with Port Arthur.

Richmond is famous for its heritage attractions, including the Richmond Bridge (1825, Australia's oldest stone span bridge), the Richmond Gaol (1825), and St John's Catholic Church (1837, oldest Catholic church in Australia).
