Staughton Vale is a rural locality within the City of Greater Geelong in western Victoria, covering a substantial 34 square kilometres approximately 62 kilometres south-west of Melbourne. With a population of just 105 residents, much of the locality is occupied by the south-eastern section of Brisbane Ranges National Park. Named after pioneer settler Simon Staughton who established his ‘Exeter’ pastoral run in the area around 1850, the locality retains a strong historic and rural character.
Brisbane Ranges National Park offers extensive bushwalking, birdwatching, and wildflower viewing, with the park renowned for its orchid populations in spring. A rural campus of Bacchus Marsh Grammar School and an outdoor education centre operated by Northern Bay College are located within Staughton Vale, drawing visiting school groups year-round.
