Stonelands is a remote rural locality in the South Burnett Region of Queensland, situated approximately 34.2 kilometres north-west of Murgon, 67.5 kilometres north of Kingaroy and 281 kilometres north-west of Brisbane. The locality covers 167.6 square kilometres of open savanna woodland, brigalow scrub and grazing country at the northern margin of the South Burnett agricultural region. The 2021 census recorded a population of 34, continuing a long tradition of sparse pastoral settlement that the locality has maintained since European occupation in the 19th century. A historic photograph of a stockman preparing to mount his horse at Stonelands circa 1920 speaks to the deep pastoral heritage of this Queensland farming district.
