About Table Cape
Table Cape is a small coastal locality on the north-west coast of Tasmania, situated approximately 5 kilometres north of Wynyard along the Bass Strait shoreline. The locality takes its name from the striking flat-topped basalt headland that juts into the sea, rising about 170 metres above the water and providing dramatic views across Bass Strait. With a population of around 87 residents, Table Cape is a quiet, rural community set amid fertile red volcanic soils that produce some of Tasmania's most productive farmland.
Table Cape is best known as the home of the Table Cape Tulip Farm, one of Australia's most celebrated spring floral displays, drawing thousands of visitors each October when the fields erupt in vivid colour. The Table Cape Lighthouse, a heritage-listed tower dating from 1888, crowns the headland and is a popular scenic lookout. Residents enjoy an exceptionally peaceful lifestyle with ocean views, cool-climate air, and easy access to the shops and services of nearby Wynyard. The area appeals to those seeking a tranquil rural-coastal retreat in the heart of Tasmania's north-west.
Table Cape falls under postcode 7325 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Braddon (Murchison) electorate.
