About Tiddy Widdy Beach
Tiddy Widdy Beach is a small coastal locality on the eastern shore of Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, approximately 3 kilometres north of Ardrossan and around 155 kilometres north-west of Adelaide. The name traces back to a well known to local First Nations people as 'Tiddy Widdy Ned', lending the locality its distinctive name. With a 2021 Census population of 195, the area is compact — covering less than 0.6 square kilometres — and is characterised by holiday homes clustered along the sheltered waters of Gulf St Vincent.
The beach is a favourite spot for crabbing — blue swimmer crabs are best caught in the warmer months — along with fishing and swimming in the calm Gulf waters. Walkers can explore the CH Smith Trail, a clifftop route linking Tiddy Widdy Beach to Ardrossan with sweeping views of the Gulf and excellent birdwatching, while the regional Stobie Pole Art Trail showcases over 50 community artworks across 26 stobie poles. All essential services are available just 3 kilometres away in Ardrossan, making this a relaxed coastal retreat within easy reach of town facilities.
Tiddy Widdy Beach falls under postcode 5571 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Narungga electorate.
