Wandoan is a small town and locality in the Western Downs Region of Queensland, situated on the Leichhardt Highway approximately 406 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, midway between Taroom and Miles. The area covers a vast 817 square kilometres of the Darling Downs hinterland and recorded a population of 666 at the 2021 Census. Formerly known as Juandah, the town was renamed Wandoan and has historically served as a service hub for surrounding cattle and grain-farming properties. It lies within the state electorate of Callide and the federal Division of Maranoa.

Wandoan's economy is anchored in broadacre agriculture — principally beef cattle and grain cropping — with the distinctive grain silos on the town's edge a landmark feature of the landscape. The surrounding Western Downs region has also attracted interest from the coal seam gas industry, bringing periodic economic boosts to the district. The town offers basic community amenities including a school, sporting facilities, and essential retail services for a largely rural population.
