Warrong is a small rural locality in south-west Victoria, situated in the Moyne Shire approximately 280 kilometres south-west of Melbourne. Covering around 83 square kilometres, it lies in the agricultural hinterland between Port Fairy and Warrnambool, two of the region's major coastal towns. The locality is characterised by flat to gently rolling farming land used primarily for sheep grazing and cropping, with a very small permanent resident population.
The coastal town of Port Fairy, approximately 15 kilometres to the south, is the nearest service centre and is renowned for its heritage streetscapes, seafood, and annual music festival. Warrnambool, a major regional city approximately 25 kilometres to the east, offers a full range of retail, health, and educational services.
