Woopen Creek is a small rural locality in the Cairns Region of Far North Queensland, situated approximately 77 kilometres south of Cairns and around 19 kilometres south-south-west of Babinda. The locality covers 27.2 square kilometres and recorded a population of 135 residents at the 2021 Census. It occupies a hilly, varied terrain ranging from 10 to 404 metres above sea level, nestled in the wet tropics hinterland between Cairns and Innisfail in the shadow of Bartle Frere, Queensland's highest mountain.
The surrounding area is characterised by lush tropical vegetation, rainforest-fringe landscapes, and agricultural land typical of the wet tropics zone. The nearest towns of Babinda and Innisfail provide access to shops, schools, and community services, while Cairns is the major regional centre for healthcare and larger retail.
