About Yatala
Yatala is a large industrial and semi-rural suburb in South East Queensland, positioned in the growth corridor between Brisbane and the Gold Coast within the Gold Coast City Council area. Covering more than 14 square kilometres, the suburb has a population of approximately 1,405 and is characterised by a mix of industrial estates, logistics businesses, and scattered residential pockets. Sitting at an elevation of 30 metres and straddling the Pacific Motorway (M1), Yatala enjoys exceptional connectivity between Queensland's two largest urban centres.
Yatala is perhaps best known to Queenslanders as the home of the iconic Yatala Pie Shop — a beloved roadside institution that has been serving hot pies to travellers for generations — and the Yatala Drive-In Theatre, Australia's oldest continuously operating drive-in cinema. Enterprise Park, the suburb's main industrial precinct, hosts a wide range of manufacturing, warehousing, and trade businesses. While not a traditional residential suburb, those who live in Yatala value the open space, easy freeway access, and the convenience of sitting roughly equidistant between Brisbane CBD and the Gold Coast.
Yatala falls under postcode 4207 and is governed by Gold Coast Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Coomera electorate.
