About Yellabinna
Yellabinna is a vast, uninhabited locality in the far west of South Australia, best known as the name of the expansive Yellabinna Regional Reserve that dominates the area. Covering over 1,115 square kilometres of arid scrubland, the locality sits approximately 30 kilometres north of Ceduna on the remote Eyre Peninsula. The landscape is defined by red sand dunes, mallee scrub, and some of the most important habitat in Australia for threatened species including the scarlet-chested parrot and malleefowl.
Yellabinna attracts nature-based travellers and wildlife enthusiasts drawn to its exceptional biodiversity and wilderness character. The reserve is managed by the South Australian Department for Environment and Water, and borders the Nullarbor Regional Reserve to the west and the Yellabinna Wilderness Protection Area within its northwestern section. Access is via unsealed tracks from Ceduna, and visitors must be self-sufficient with water and fuel.
Yellabinna falls under postcode 5690 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Flinders electorate.
