About Brungle
Brungle is a small village in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains in the Riverina region of New South Wales, situated approximately 20 kilometres north of Tumut and 16 kilometres south-east of Gundagai within the Snowy Valleys Council area. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 146 residents across nearly 31 square kilometres of rural landscape. Brungle holds deep cultural significance as the home of a large community of Waradajhi people, with the Brungle–Tumut Aboriginal Land Council and Brungle Health and Community Aboriginal Corporation both operating in the area.
The village has a relaxed rural character and is popular with fishing enthusiasts, with several great spots along the local waterways. Nearby Tumut offers everyday services including supermarkets, schools, medical care, and access to the Snowy Mountains Highway. The surrounding landscape of rolling hills and river country is typical of the Snowy Valleys, offering beautiful scenery and access to bushwalking.
