About Doolbi
Doolbi is a small rural locality in the Bundaberg Region of Queensland, situated approximately 5 kilometres east of the town of Childers and about 57 kilometres south-west of Bundaberg. With a population of 101 residents across just under 6 square kilometres, it is a quiet agricultural community within the broader Isis district of the Wide Bay–Burnett region. The Bruce Highway runs along the locality's southern boundary, providing convenient road access to both Childers and Bundaberg.
Doolbi has a rich sugar industry heritage — in the 1890s, one of the first sugar cane crushing mills in the Isis district was established here by Robert Cran, and the remnant brick chimney from the original Doolbi Sugar Mill still stands on the grounds of the Isis Golf Course. The golf course is the locality's main recreational facility and a focal point for community life. Residents travel to nearby Childers for daily shopping, schools, and medical services, while Bundaberg offers the closest major hospital and retail centres.
Doolbi falls under postcode 4660 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Maryborough electorate.
