Jacup is a large rural locality in the Shire of Jerramungup, within the Great Southern region of Western Australia, approximately 379 kilometres south-east of Perth. The locality spans approximately 697 square kilometres of open agricultural plains on the traditional country of the Wudjari people of the Noongar nation. With a population of approximately 71 at the 2021 Census, Jacup is a sparsely settled farming district well suited to cereal and oilseed cropping, with the South Coast Highway passing through the locality from west to east.
The landscape of Jacup is characterised by gently rolling plains with quality cropping soils and an average annual rainfall of around 448 millimetres. The southern portion of the locality borders the Fitzgerald River National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve renowned for extraordinary wildflower diversity, endemic plant species, and coastal wilderness, while a small section of the Lake Magenta Nature Reserve extends into the north. The Fitzgerald River flows through the locality from north to south. Residents rely on the nearby town of Jerramungup, approximately 30 kilometres to the south, for essential services including fuel, general stores, schools, and community facilities.
