About Jondaryan
Jondaryan is a rural locality in Queensland's Darling Downs region, situated within the Toowoomba Regional Council area approximately 43 kilometres north-west of Toowoomba CBD and 171 kilometres west of Brisbane. Spanning nearly 197 square kilometres of flat, fertile agricultural land, it had a population of 414 residents at the 2021 Census. The locality sits at an elevation of around 385 metres on the Darling Downs plains, where dryland cropping and grazing have shaped the landscape for more than a century.
Jondaryan is best known for the Jondaryan Woolshed, a heritage-listed pastoral property dating to 1859 that now operates as a living history museum celebrating Queensland's pastoral heritage through farm demonstrations, heritage exhibits, and cultural events. The nearby Warrego Highway provides direct road access to Toowoomba to the south-east and Dalby to the north. Most everyday services — including shops, schools, and medical facilities — are available in the town of Oakey, approximately 17 kilometres away. The area appeals to those drawn to wide open spaces, agricultural community life, and Queensland's rural heritage.
Jondaryan falls under postcode 4403 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Condamine electorate.
