About Kybybolite
Kybybolite is a small rural locality in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, approximately 19 kilometres north-east of Naracoorte and 301 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. It falls within the Naracoorte Lucindale Council area. With a population of 102 at the 2021 Census across 90 square kilometres, it is a close-knit farming community with a proud agricultural heritage dating back to the early 1900s.
The locality is best known for its historic agricultural research station, established by the state government in 1905, which has played a significant role in advancing pasture and livestock management across the south-east. The Kybybolite Recreation Reserve serves as the community's sporting and social hub, hosting footy and netball in winter and cricket and tennis in summer. Nearby Mullinger Swamp is home to the Limestone Coast's largest living red gum, standing approximately 50 metres tall, and offers plentiful birdlife among its ancient trees.
Kybybolite falls under postcode 5262 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Mackillop electorate.
