Launching Place is a small town in the Yarra Ranges, approximately 54 kilometres east of Melbourne's CBD within the Shire of Yarra Ranges. The town recorded a population of around 2,400 residents and is situated along the Warburton Highway between Yarra Junction and Woori Yallock. Its name originates from the spot on the Yarra River where freshly cut logs were launched downstream to be milled in Melbourne during the timber industry era.
