The community sits within the Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vast remote area of the Western Desert that spans parts of Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory, and is covered by the determined Ngaanyatjarra Lands native title area. With a population of 124 residents across a compact locality of approximately 4.8 square kilometres, Mantamaru is a close-knit community maintaining strong connection to Ngaanyatjarra country and culture.
