About Nornalup
Nornalup is a small coastal locality nestled among towering karri and tingle forests in the South West region of Western Australia, approximately 400 kilometres south of Perth and 15 kilometres east of Walpole. Covering around 47 square kilometres on the banks of the Frankland River estuary, the locality recorded a population of 89 residents at the 2021 Census. The area sits within the state electorate of Warren-Blackwood and is surrounded by the spectacular Walpole-Nornalup National Park, one of the most biodiverse wilderness areas in the state.
Nornalup is best known as the gateway to the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk, a world-famous attraction where visitors walk 40 metres above the forest floor in the canopy of ancient red tingle trees. The village has a quiet, nature-focused character, attracting eco-tourists, bushwalkers, and those seeking a tranquil retreat close to the Southern Ocean coast. The small community has access to basic services, with the town of Walpole just 15 minutes west by car offering shops, a medical centre, and fuel, while the Nornalup Inlet provides calm waters for fishing and kayaking.
