About Peaceful Bay
Peaceful Bay is a small coastal holiday hamlet situated on the Southern Ocean approximately 445 kilometres south of Perth, within the Shire of Denmark in Western Australia's Great Southern region. Located roughly 33 kilometres east of Walpole and about 45 kilometres west of Denmark, the locality sits at the edge of the Walpole-Nornalup National Park, offering a stunning natural setting of white sand beaches and sheltered waters. The 2021 Census recorded a permanent population of 71 residents, though the village hosts many more during the summer holiday season, with over 250 holiday homes dotting the area.
The bay is renowned for its crystal-clear waters ideal for swimming, snorkelling, fishing, and boating, as well as access to the Bibbulmun Track — one of Australia's great long-distance walking trails. The surrounding landscape is rich in biodiversity, including the world's only endemic stand of red-flowering gum (Corymbia ficifolia) and more than 40 species of native orchids. Visitors and locals enjoy the Peaceful Bay Caravan Park and coastal chalets, while the nearest comprehensive services and shopping are available in Denmark. It is a destination for those seeking a laid-back coastal escape in one of Western Australia's most beautiful corners.
Peaceful Bay falls under postcode 6333 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Warren-Blackwood (South West) electorate.
