The locality recorded a 2021 Census population of 189 residents — up from 136 in 2016 — and is named for the prominent headland near the coastal communities of Agnes Water and the Town of 1770. With a median taxable income of around $36,000, the locality is home to farming families and a small permanent residential community drawn to its remote coastal setting.
Round Hill is bordered to the north-east by a section of Deepwater National Park, offering opportunities for bushwalking, fishing, and wildlife spotting in an undisturbed natural environment. The locality sits just inland from the popular tourism destinations of Agnes Water and the Town of 1770 — the most northerly surf beach on Queensland's east coast — giving residents easy access to coastal amenities and the Great Barrier Reef hinterland. There are no schools within Round Hill; the nearest primary school is Agnes Water State School, and residents rely on the small township of Agnes Water for everyday services and supplies.
Round Hill falls under postcode 4677 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Burnett electorate.
