The locality has a very small resident population and forms part of Tasmania's quiet rural east coast landscape.
The nearby town of Swansea, approximately 25 kilometres to the south-east, provides the main services for the area including shops, schools, and community facilities. Tasmania's celebrated east coast, with its turquoise bays and National Parks including Freycinet, lies within easy reach.
