Needilup is a small rural locality in the Shire of Jerramungup within the Great Southern region of Western Australia, approximately 347 kilometres south-east of Perth. The township sits along the Gnowangerup-Jerramungup Road between the towns of Ongerup and Jerramungup, covering an area of 845 square kilometres. With a population of 99 at the 2021 Census, it is a quiet farming community that was officially declared a townsite in 1954.
The locality is surrounded by broad-acre farming country, with agriculture — particularly grain cropping and sheep grazing — forming the backbone of the local economy. Nature enthusiasts can explore the Needilup and Corackerup Nature Reserves, as well as the Chereninup Creek Reserve, which protect pockets of native bushland and wildlife. The name Needilup is Aboriginal in origin, taken from the nearby Needilup River that was first surveyed in 1901.
