Canyonleigh is a rural locality in the Southern Highlands region of New South Wales, situated approximately 23 kilometres west of Moss Vale at an elevation of 719 metres in the Wingecarribee Shire. Covering around 250 square kilometres of forested and pastoral highland country, the locality had a population of 455 at the 2021 census, spread across large rural properties. Formerly known as Canyan Leigh, the area lies west of the main Southern Highlands villages, bordered by Belanglo State Forest to the east and the rugged Wollondilly River headwaters to the south. It falls within the federal electorate of Whitlam and the NSW state electorate of Goulburn.
Canyonleigh is prized by those seeking substantial rural acreage in the Southern Highlands at a more accessible price point than the premium villages of Bowral, Berrima and Moss Vale. The landscape is characterised by cool-climate forest, rolling hills and creek flats typical of the Southern Tablelands escarpment. Moss Vale provides the nearest everyday services, while Bowral — about 30 minutes away — offers an extensive range of boutique shopping, dining and cultural events including the famous Tulip Time festival.
