About Point Pearce
Point Pearce is a small coastal locality on the western shore of Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, situated within the Yorke Peninsula Council area approximately 194 kilometres north-west of Adelaide. With a population of 147 residents, the community has deep historical and cultural significance as the site of the Point Pearce Mission, established in 1868 for the Narungga people — the traditional custodians of Yorke Peninsula. The area spans some 85 square kilometres of coastal and agricultural land, and the community remains an important centre of Narungga culture and heritage.
Point Pearce is recognised for its Aboriginal cultural tourism, with guided coastal tours offering visitors insight into Narungga history, traditional land connections, and the mission era.
